Welcome to Fall Ball 2020! Due to the COVID pandemic, games are currently not permitted. TGS is proud to announce a fall ball practice league at a discounted price. Should game play be permitted at any time during the season, we will schedule some games and have some fun. Should games be approved during the season, each player will be asked to contribute an additional fee to cover the cost of umpires. We ask for patience and grace as we work to provide safe opportunities for our players.
Fall softball is for players who are looking for a fun, developmental environment. There are typically 1 or 2 practices per week. Should games be permitted, those games will be played on Sundays. Families may travel to other Orange County cities for games. Select players may travel farther.
This fall season TGS will will host recreation teams in the 6u , 8u, 10u, and 12u age divisions. Select teams will be formed by invitation in our 8u, 10u, and 12u age divisions. A Select team will be formed in our 14u age division should there be enough interest. Please contact email@example.com with questions regarding 14u.
1) What are the costs associated with the 2020 Fall Ball Season?
8U - 14U $75
If we are approved for game play during the fall season, a small additional fee will be collected to cover the cost of umpires. Select players may have tournament costs as well.
2) Where are games and practices located?
During the Fall Ball season, home games and practices are held at either Tustin Sports Park located at 12850 Robinson Drive, Tustin, CA 92782 (Jamboree and Robinson) or Columbus Tustin Park (CT) located at 14712 Prospect Avenue, Tustin, CA 92780 (Irvine and Prospect). Families may also travel to other Orange County locations for games.
3) How often will the girls practice? How often are games?
6u teams will practice once a week. 8u-14u may practice up to twice a week. If games are approved, those games will be played on Sundays (no games during the week).
The 10u, 12u, and 14u age divisions will play double headers on Sundays. The 6u and 8u age divisions will play one game on Sundays. In an ideal season, there are tournament opportunities. If that occurs, tournaments usually begin on Friday and end on Sunday.
4) How are girls selected for a team?
Assessments for Fall Ball Recreation teams will be held. This is not a "try-out". Players skill levels are assessed in order to create balanced teams.
Select teams are formed via invitation from the Select Manager. Typically, Select teams consist of All-Star players from the previous spring season.
5) Can I request a buddy or a particular coach?
The 6u and 8u recreation age divisions may request a buddy. We will do our absolute best to honor every request but due to team balance, there may be requests we cannot honor. There are no buddy requests for 8u select teams. TGS does not honor coach or buddy requests in the upper age divisions.
6) What is provided in the league uniform?
This season, the uniform that is provided by the league consists of a dry-fit jersey-type tee only. Players will need to purchase their own pants. Sock purchases are normally facilitated by the team parents after teams are formed, but will not be necessary this fall season.
7) What equipment is needed?
The basic items your player needs are cleats (soccer cleats are acceptable), helmet with an USA Softball approved face cage and chin strap, bat, and softball glove. Girls in higher divisions may also want to add knee pads and/or sliding shorts to protect them when sliding into a base. Face masks for pitchers and infielders are suggested but not required.
The helmet can be purchased at any sporting goods store. The helmet must be worn while the batter is on deck, batting, or running the bases. The bat should come up to the child’s waist when placed on the ground next to the leg. To determine the weight of the bat, the child should be able to hold it parallel to the ground in one hand without much effort. A glove should be able to close around the size of the ball used in the age division in which they play. The 6U and 8U Divisions use a 10” yellow ball. The 10U Division uses an 11” yellow ball. The 12U and 14U Divisions use a 12” yellow ball.
8) How will I know what age group to register my daughter for?
The age divisions will be assigned in the registration process and are determined by USA Softball (the governing body of softball in the United States). This fall season, TGS will permit players to play in their their Spring 2020 OR their Spring 2021 age eligible division. Some accommodations can be made with board approval. Proof of age in the form of birth certificate or passport must be received by TGS prior to the first practice.
Upon registration, the system will automatically place your player into the Spring 2021 age division. If you would like your player to be placed in their Spring 2020 age division, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and we will make the switch.

Please fill out the scholarship application and email it to registrar@tustingirlssoftball for consideration. Scholarships that meet the criteria will be awarded in order of application received.
We understand this season is unprecedented and that there are unforeseen circumstances which may lead you to decide to withdraw your player. Please keep in mind that this decision not only impacts the league financially, but it also affects team balancing and formation.
If a player requests a refund prior to team formation which occurs at the draft, they will be refunded their registration fee less a $25 processing fee. There are NO REFUNDS after teams have been formed. Some exceptions may be made with board approval. COVID situations excluded.
