fall 2023 select information

"Select" softball is for advanced players. Unlike the Spring Season, Select players do not play on Rec teams in the Fall Season.

  • ​Select teams by invitation only in 8U, 10U, 12U, and 14U
  • Gold and Silver level may be offered in each age group (with sufficient interest)
  • Teams practice 2X per week, play doubleheaders on Sundays and participate in Two Tournaments (one tournament fee is included in the registration fee)
  • Pumpkin Tournament: Dates TBD
  • Turkey Tournament: Dates TBD
  • Select Season will conclude on November 12th 
  • There is an additional $100 fee to play Select, payable immediately after selection.

HOW ARE SELECT TEAMS FORMED?

Players who wish to be considered for a Fall 2023 Select Team should SUBMIT INTEREST HERE. Players may not attend Select Tryouts without first registering and submitting interest.

Players should attend the Select Tryout. All players who try out for a Select team and do not make a team will be required to attend the Rec Evaluation and will be drafted to a Rec team.

This season TGS will produce the following Select teams:

One 8u team, two 10u teams, two 12u teams. 14u will be TBD.

Fall Recreation vs. Fall Select What’s the difference?

Recreation Softball

Recreation Softball is for everyone and is the heart of our organization. All players who register by the deadline will be placed on a team where every player is guaranteed playing time. Recreation teams are coached by parent volunteers with the goal of teaching fundamentals, sportsmanship, and fostering a love of the game.

During the fall season, games are played on Sundays and we inter-league with other softball leagues in Central and South Orange County participating in the OC Fall Ball Inter-league. Home games are played at Columbus Tustin Park or Tustin Sports Park. Teams will play in at least one tournament. Practices will start the week of August 21st. Our first games will start Sunday, September 10th and our last games will be November 12th.

Select Softball

Select softball is for those recreational players who have developed a higher level of softball skill and are ready for more competitive play. Different from Spring, for Fall Select, there is no requirement to play Rec.

This Fall Season, our Select teams will play double headers on Sundays with the OC Fall Ball Inter-league. Select players will participate in two tournaments and will be required to pay an additional fee.
