Recreation vs. Select What’s the difference?

Recreation Softball

Recreation Softball is for everyone and is the heart of our organization. All players who register by the deadline will be placed on a team where every player is guaranteed playing time. Recreation teams are coached by parent volunteers with the goal of teaching fundamentals, sportsmanship, and fostering a love of the game.

During the fall season, games are played on Sundays and we inter-league with other softball leagues in Central and South Orange County participating in the OC Fall Ball Inter-league. Home games are played at Columbus Tustin Park or Tustin Sports Park. Teams will play in at least one tournament. Practices will start the week of August 23rd. Our first games will start September 12th and our last games will be the weekend of November 14th.

Select Softball

Select softball is for those recreational players who have developed a higher level of softball skill and are ready for more competitive play. For Fall Select, there is no requirement to play Rec. For years there is a definite expressed need to provide an opportunity for young players to play softball at an intermediate level. That is where the Select Program comes in. 

This Fall Season, our Select teams will play double headers on Sundays with the OC Fall Ball Inter-league. Select players will participate in two tournaments and will be required to pay an additional $40 fee.

If your player would like to try out for the Select team and did not check the appropriate box during the restoration process, rsvp to registrar@tustingirlssoftball.com. Select try-outs will be conducted congruent with recreation assessments.
