Tustin Girls Softball is a recreational youth sports organization where young women in our community can come together as a team and have fun in a safe environment through learning and playing the sport of fastpitch softball. Females from ages 4 to 14 years old are encouraged to participate in the Tustin Girls Softball (TGS) organization. TGS competes at the recreational level, which means girls of all abilities are welcome to participate. TGS encourages its participants to have fun while playing softball, first and foremost. Girls who play with TGS will receive instruction on the various fundamental skills required to compete in fastpitch softball. The athletes will also learn how to work together towards success as a member of a team, which stresses the importance of the whole being greater than the sum of the individual parts.

Tustin Girls Softball serves as a gateway for young females to the world of fastpitch softball, and also to the future of women in sports as a whole. We educate and empower our participants to become strong leaders, decision-makers, and competitors within the framework of the game of softball, but also demonstrate the importance of these attributes away from the field. We stress the idea of how almost anything is achievable with hard work and a good attitude. Our focus is on maximum effort, rather than perfect performance.

TGS is keenly aware of the significance the organization holds in the lives of its participants during their formative years. It is the desire of TGS for the athletes’ experience with the league to be a positive one, even if they move on from softball to another sport in the future. There are universal lessons that transcend softball, which can be taught to the participants. One of the most vital concepts is the lesson in the importance of being a strong female in the face of conflict. TGS strives to demonstrate how teachable moments on the ball field can relate to life. TGS rewards tenacity, effort, and grit with awards, such as the weekly “Heart and Hustle” award. These qualities are the same attributes that future employers will look for in the hiring pool, and they are also the same personality traits that will help TGS participants overcome adversity.
